Algeria Test Fires Iskandar Tactical Missile

One day after the outbreak of low-intensity hostilities between the Moroccan army and the Polisario, Algeria sent a message heavy with meaning through a report broadcast on the public channel which saw the appearance new Iskander E ballistic missile as well as a plethora of other large caliber weapons.

Algeria has never shown or confirmed the existence of Iskander in its export version with its army and yet many international publications had noted the transfer of this sensitive weapon from 2017 to Algeria.

The ANP has never been fond of ballistic missiles because of their lack of precision and their inadequacy with its doctrine. The entry into the market of the Iskander, a weapon of great precision with good tactical and strategic capabilities, eventually convinced Algeria to adopt it.

Subject to the MTCR regime, the Iskander E battery can send missiles at a maximum distance of 300 km but with an accuracy of a few meters.
