The UK’s Ministry of Defense published a tweet stating, “As part of its aid package, the UK has provided Brimstone 2 missiles, a precision-guided missile, to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This aid has played a crucial role in stalling Russian advances.”
The precision-guided missiles not only have double the range of previous models, but they also permit the missile to scan the field, pinpoint or select a target, and can allegedly identify civilian vehicles or unimportant or unworthy military equipment.
The UK has been upping its military aid to the Ukrainian forces, becoming the second donor of military aid after the US.
In October, Britain claimed it will send hundreds of drones to support Ukraine’s intelligence services and 18 howitzer artillery weapons.”These weapons will help Ukraine defend its skies from attacks and strengthen their overall missile defense alongside the US NASAMS,” British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said.
So far, the UK has sent 2.3 billion pounds ($2,793,120) of military aid to Ukraine, vowing to provide equal or more payments in 2023. It has even gone further to provide training to Ukrainian forces voluntarily.
Military bases in the UK have been set up to train Ukrainian personnel, with commanders intending to largely expand the training, according to Sky News in September, citing defense ministry sources. The new training mission includes instructors from eight other countries: New Zealand, Sweden, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Lithuania.
The Defense Ministry of the Netherlands disclosed that some 90 Dutch troops have direct involvement in training Ukrainian armed forces in the UK. Still, the US has also been providing training for Ukrainian soldiers regarding arms they are not accustomed to.
