Polish PGZ to Deliver Transporter Vehicles For Patriot Missile Systems

The subsidiaries of the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ) signed an agreement on production and delivery of a series of utility vehicles for the Poland’s Patriot-based ‘Wisla’ medium range air-and-missile defense (AMD) system.

WZU and Jelcz, subsidiaries of the PGZ, will deliver a number of transport-loading vehicles, which will become elements of the 1st battery of the Patriot-based ‘Wisla’ medium range AMD system.

Under the terms of the agreement the Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia (WZU, Military Armament Works) in Grudziądz will deliver 8 transport-loading vehicles based on the Jelcz truck chassis, which will become an element of the first Patriot-base ‘Wisla’ medium range AMD battery (New Jelcz utility trucks for the Wisla programme, 2019-12-17).

New vehicles will be equipped with modern communication and computer systems. Deliveries should conclude in 2021-2022.

‘Tractor trucks in an 8×8 drive configuration, which are part of the agreement, along with 4×4 vehicles, currently undergo a series of intensive verification tests at the Military Institute of Armoured and Automotive Technology in Sulejówek. High mobility of elements of the ‘Wisla’ system will be provided by a wide range of 8×8 and 4×4 vehicles, which the Jelcz company delivers to the PGZ-Wisla consortium.’ said Sławomir Kaleta, Chairman of the Board at Jelcz, a subsidiary of PGZ.

The first two batteries of the Patriot-based AMD system, which will be delivered under the 1st phase of the ‘Wisla’ programme will be equipped with launchers, which are manufactured by the local defense industry, including Huta Stalowa Wola, another subsidiary of PGZ. Other companies of the Group, like WZU and Jelcz also take part in the process.
