A group of defense contractors has signed a memorandum of understanding to build and supply a 6×6 cavalry vehicle for the Spanish Army.
The project aims to support the military with a modern armored system using off-the-shelf solutions while bolstering the country’s domestic logistics and lifecycle management industry.
This strategic collaboration involves local Spanish firms TSD Technology & Security Developments and Grupo Oesía, as well as Turkish and Belgian manufacturers FNSS and John Cockerill Defense.
Under the agreement, the companies will jointly conduct the platform’s design, assembly, production, optronic sensor development, and manned turret manufacturing and integration.
TSD has been supplying tactical vehicles for Spanish and export customers for over two decades, with more than 15,000 systems already delivered and commissioned into service, while Grupo Oesía specializes in next-generation engineering support for cybersecurity, simulation, communications, navigation, and control systems.
FNSS supplies wheeled and tracked armored systems with combat, engineering, hybrid powertrains, and autonomous capabilities.
John Cockerill focuses on armored vehicle technologies and weapon systems for the evolving battlefield. Among its notable products is the combat-ready 3030 medium-caliber manned turret, equipped with a 30-millimeter chain gun and NATO-standard protective armor.
The recent teaming agreement follows FNSS’ exhibit of a concept fire support and reconnaissance vehicle design based on its flagship PARS Alpha 6×6 system at a defense convention in Madrid.
It is equipped with John Cockerill’s 3000 Series manned turret, which can be fitted with up to 50-millimeter caliber guns and up to 105-millimeter direct fire anti-tank weapons.
In February, FNSS accepted a contract to supply a new generation of the PARS Alpha armored vehicle for the Turkish Land Forces.
About 25 systems are included in the package and will be delivered in both the platform’s 6×6 and 8×8 variants.
