Ukrainian IRIS-T SLM Shot Down 44 Kh-55 Cruise Missiles Launched From Tu-95MS Bombers

On the night of 12 September, Russia launched another massive missile and drone attack on Ukrainian territory. Thanks to the Ukrainian air defence system, almost all aerial targets were shot down.

The Ukrainian air force destroyed cruise missiles from overnight Russian air strikes on northern and central parts of the country including the Kyiv region, authorities said.

The news came as Moscow said its forces had shot down two drones in regions bordering Ukraine.

According to the information of the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Valeriy Zaluzhny, a total of 64 aerial targets were fired at Ukraine. Of these, 44 were air-launched missiles of the Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 type.

They were fired from 11 Tu-95ms strategic aviation aircraft from the Caspian Sea and Engels area.

The rest were 20 Shahed-136/131 type strike UAVs from the southern and northern directions. Ukrainian Gepard anti-air guns shot down 20 Iranian-made Shahed drones.

Thanks to air defence forces, all 44 cruise missiles and 20 attack drones within the Kyiv, Cherkassy, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions were destroyed.
