Ukraine wants to manufacture Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles

Ukraine and Sweden have declared intentions about common production of Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

The information was shared by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Sweden on 19 August. Details of the negotiations are not yet available. It is only known that at the first stages Ukraine wants to create a centre for repair of Swedish BMPs, and then launch a full-fledged production of infantry fighting vehicles.

By the way, a few months ago we wrote that Ukraine plans to buy 1000 CV90. Presumably, the project will be implemented jointly with the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

CV90 is a Swedish infantry fighting vehicle, which in 1984 was developed by Hägglunds company (owned by British BAE Systems) by order of the Swedish Army. Production of the vehicle began in 1993. Since then, about 1,170 BMPs in different modifications have been produced. By the way, the AFU has 50 such infantry fighting vehicles in service.
