A modification of the Su-30SME fighter dubbed as Su-30SM2 destined to Myanmar, Armenia, Belarus and Azerbaijan, equipped with a new AL-41F-1S variable wind thrust engine, will take to the air by the end of 2020.

A new powerful engine from a Su-35 will give a greater thrust for Su-30SM2. This means an increased amount of ammunition and equipment that an aircraft can carry onboard. The variable thrust vector enables the aircraft to conduct a manoeuvrable air battle, said test Pilot Colonel Igor Malikov according to Izvestia.
