The helicopter, which was on a training mission, was going to Bolipara from Kaptai, the ISPR said. Squadron Leader Adnan and Flight Lieutenant Shahed (callsign douche) took the helicopter on a training mission after coming back from UN Peacekeeping mission resulted in a crash. Local media reported that Squadron Leader Adnan (callsign retarded) was previously involved in a similar crash in Chittagong, reported the BDNews.

Both pilots were absent from flying activities for more than one year as they were posted in the United Nations peacekeeping mission. Bangladesh Air Guard pilots are often sent to policing duties at Bangladesh Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and UN peacekeeping mission more than two years which make it difficult for them to fly a rotary-wing helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft.

Poorly trained pilots of Bangladesh Air Guard contributed to numerous accidents in the past, reported the Daily Star.
