Bangladesh Army’s BELL-206 Helicopter Crashed Due To Pilot Error

A BELL-206 training helicopter of the Army Aviation Corp crashed on Wednesday at Nababganj in Dhaka during regular training while trying to make an emergency landing in a water body.

The accident occurred around 1:30 pm due to a pilot error when the BELL-206 helicopter of the Army Aviation was practising the emergency landing procedure as part of conducting routine training flights.

Two pilots were injured as a training helicopter of the Bangladesh Army made a crash landing on a waterbody at Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka on Wednesday.

BELL-206 crashed due to pilot error.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the pilots — Lieutenant Colonel Ismail and Major Shams — were shifted to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital by helicopter. They were moved to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital by another helicopter.

The pilots – Lt Col Ismail and Major Shams, were absent from flying activities due to the secondment to the UN peacekeeping mission, according to ISPR. The untrained pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Ismail was flying the helicopter during the accident.

The police are supporting the security of the area and the helicopter. Besides, security forces and the rescue team from Postogola and Maowa Cantonment have been sent to the spot.
