Ukrainian forces have struck and destroyed a Russian military train carrying fuel near the frontline, disrupting Moscow’s logistics in occupied territory.
The incident took place between the settlements of Urozhaine and Tokmak, according to the Ukrainian defense outlet Militarnyi.
The report said the train was attempting to deliver a large shipment of fuel to support Russia’s ongoing offensive operations. Ukrainian long-range FPV drones carried out the attack, disabling the train and setting fuel tanks ablaze.
Shortly after the strike, videos appeared online from both Ukrainian drones and Russian military sources confirming the incident. The footage shows burning fuel tankers and a halted train engulfed in flames.
The strike highlights Ukraine’s focus on Russian logistics, which remain essential for sustaining offensive operations along the front. By targeting fuel supply routes, Kyiv seeks to undermine Russia’s ability to maintain pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions.
This is not the first instance of Ukrainian forces targeting Russian trains. Previous strikes have also disrupted the delivery of fuel and ammunition to frontline units. Each attack on rail transport complicates Russia’s ability to sustain its troops, as trains remain the primary means of moving bulk fuel and heavy materiel across occupied territories.
Russian military channels acknowledged the attack by sharing their own footage of the burning train, indirectly confirming the damage. The loss of a large shipment of fuel is likely to have an immediate impact on units operating in the southern sector, where heavy consumption of fuel is required to sustain mechanized operations.
According to Militarnyi, Ukrainian forces will likely continue to prioritize Russian fuel logistics as part of their broader campaign to degrade Moscow’s offensive capacity. The report emphasized that rail strikes remain among the most effective ways to limit Russian advances.
