Canadian aerospace company Bombardier Defense has inaugurated a new office in Australia to enhance its presence in the Asia-Pacific.

Located in Adelaide, the center will incorporate teams to meet on-site user demands and facilities for partners to explore the firm’s proprietary Challenger and Global aircraft families for military, civilian, and hybrid applications.

“The new Bombardier Defense office is an integral part of our overall mission to provide additional support for our missionized customers in Australia and, more largely, in the Asia-Pacific region,” Bombardier Defense VP Steve Patrick stated.

“This new office will enable us to provide more resources and increased flexibility in the region and give us a greater opportunity to showcase our outstanding missionized options to potential customers.”

Bombardier’s Australian corporate office launch followed the opening of the company’s sustainment, repair, and overhaul center at the Essendon Fields Airport in Melbourne.

The 50,000-square-foot (4,600-square-meter) hub employs approximately 50 personnel and 40 skilled technicians.

The site incorporates a parts depot as well as the capacity to service two 100-foot (34-meter) Global 7500 planes.

Bombardier received a contract in January to deliver a Global aircraft for the US Department of Defense’s latest spy plane program.

In 2023, the company supplied the 7th business jet for another surveillance aircraft initiative led by Saab.

The same year, Bombardier teamed with General Dynamics to offer a new multi-mission and anti-submarine warfare aircraft for the Canadian Armed Forces.
