Ukrainian Army Showcases New 90KM Range M31A1 GMLRS Projectile For HIMARS

Ukrainian troops fire HIMARS artillery at Russian position.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to use American HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems with GMLRS projectiles.

Ukrainian defenders have published a video of the launch of one M31A1 GMLRS rocket projectile. The M142 HIMARS launcher container holds six of these “missiles”.

GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) is a family of 227 mm guided rockets produced by the American company Lockheed Martin. The M31 can hit targets at a range of about 90 km.

The projectile uses an ESAF fuze with three trigger levels: approach, impact and delay after impact. The M31A1 modification features an airburst capability. There is also a newer version of the M31A2 with reduced collateral loss. Series production began three years ago.
