The command of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

Earlier reports said that on July 24, an air defense unit of the 25th Separate Sicheslav Airborne Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Su-25 fighter jet.

It is noted that Ukrainian paratroopers shot down the Russian aircraft using an Igla man-portable air defense system (MANPADS). The 9K38 Igla is a Russian/Soviet man-portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile system.

As reported, from February 24 to July 24, the Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated 55,520 Russian troops, including 280 in the past day alone.
