L3Harris Awarded Contract to Produce Tactical Radio System for Germany.

L3Harris Technologies has received foreign military sales contracts to provide its proprietary Falcon tactical radio systems to Germany.

The Falcon product line consists of multiple handheld devices, manpack equipment, vehicular and airborne transceivers, and power amplifiers, offering secure, multi-band capabilities to maintain voice and data exchange across various domains.

The orders support the NATO country’s ongoing Digitalization – Land Based Operations (D-LBO) program, which seeks emerging solutions to bolster the German Armed Forces’ mobile command and control network.

The package will also be used by special operations units, according to the company. The radios will be shipped to Berlin later this year, with services including in-region expertise.

“The battle-tested Falcon systems will enhance German forces’ secure, interoperable communications with European Union and NATO allies,” said Chris Aebli, president of Mission Critical Communications, Communications & Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris.

“These software-defined systems and robust waveforms will give German soldiers and special operators more reliable connectivity under any circumstance — in all regions of the world — with the flexibility to add capability, as needed, through simple software updates.”

The deals follow L3Harris’ confirmation last May of multiple orders worth up to $214 million to deliver solutions for Germany’s D-LBO initiative.

The company signed previous contracts in support of similar communications upgrade efforts across the US Army, the Dutch military, and other partners in Europe.
