Armenia is not an ally of Russia on “Ukraine invasion”, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says

Historically, Armenia and Russia have had a fairly good relationship, but since Russia began their invasion of Ukraine, the relationship between the two nations has suffered a setback.

However, Armenia still views Russia as an ally, but in connection with the invasion of Ukraine, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Armenia have chosen to side with Ukraine.

Armenia does not support Russia in the conflict in Ukraine. Yerevan is not an ally of Moscow on this issue, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Munich Security Conference.

“I have long said that Armenia is not an ally of Russia in the matter of Ukraine. And this is our sincere position,” TASS reports Pashinyan’s statement.

According to Pashinyan, the Ukrainian people are considered friendly towards the citizens of Armenia.

He added that he regrets the inability to influence the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Previously, Pashinyan noted that he sees no advantage in having a Russian military base on Armenian territory.

He added that he is looking for new partners in place of Russia, as it allegedly failed to fulfill its allied obligations, reports the “Tsargrad” TV channel.

It is not only the war in Ukraine that has complicated the relationship between the two nations. Last year, Armenia applied for membership in the International Criminal Court, which officially came into effect 18 days ago.

Specifically, this means that Armenia now has the obligation to arrest Putin if he sets foot in Armenia in the future.
