Hungary wants to produce KF51 Panther main battle tanks

In addition to Lynx infantry fighting vehicles, Hungary also wants to produce KF51 Panther tanks in the country.

This was announced by the country’s prime minister on social media. If everything works out, the production of tanks will be launched at the recently opened Rheinmetall plant. By the way, Hungary has also joined the KF51 Panther development programme.

The Panther KF51 (Panther Kettenfahrzeug 51) is a new tank of the German concern Rheinmetall. It was presented at the Eurosatory-2022 exhibition in Paris.

The tank is the successor of the Leopard 2. It is made on the same chassis and weighs 59 tonnes.

The combat vehicle was equipped with a 130 mm cannon and 12.7 mm machine gun. In addition, the Panther KF51 boasts a HERO 120 kamikaze drone, which is manufactured by UVision. Panther KF51 is planned to be produced in two versions: one will be operated by a crew of 3 people, and the second will be fully autonomous.
