U.S. firm built autonomous platform that enables drones to launch and recover from moving unmanned ground vehicles.

A partnership between two US firms is creating a mobile autonomous platform that allows drones to launch, recover, and continue operating without stopping or requiring human intervention.

The concept combines Target Arm’s Ralar 2 robotic system and the Hunter WOLF and WOLF-X unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) duo from HDT Global.

The integrated system is designed to keep drones operating while the ground platform itself is moving, combining robotic manipulation, sensors, and autonomy to support continuous aerial operations.

In footage released by Target Arm, a wheeled platform dubbed “Furiosa” is shown navigating rough terrain using onboard sensors and cameras.

A robotic arm mounted on the vehicle captures and guides drones during recovery, while the platform also launches multiple unmanned aircraft in sequence.

“No manual piloting. No stopping the mission’s momentum for anything,” Target Arm stated on social media.

Target Arm said the technology could support a range of missions beyond battlefield operations, including search and rescue, covert surveillance, logistics, and maritime patrol.

Traditionally, military forces have operated ground robots and aerial drones as separate systems requiring dedicated personnel and workflows.

The Target Arm and HDT Global integration points toward a future where autonomous ground vehicles could serve as mobile drone hubs, managing aerial assets while moving through operational environments.

By allowing UGVs to function as autonomous launch and recovery platforms, the system could reduce the need for human involvement in routine drone operations and allow personnel to focus on higher-priority battlefield tasks.
