Turkish STM Unveils Fast Attack Craft Design

STM has unveiled the design of the Turkish Fast Attack Craft to replace the ageing fast attack craft classes of the Turkish Navy in the coming years.

The design displayed at IDEF25 has some aesthetic differences, but the same armament and hull layout as the previously published renderings. The new hull could be described as having sharper angles and a new mast design, which are likely optimisations to manage the radar cross-section.

The weaponry includes ATMACA anti-ship missiles, a 76 mm naval gun, two 12.7 mm RCWS, and a PDMS (Either LEVENT or GÖKSUR 100-N/StA).

The sensors have not been decided on, but there is a possibility that the Turkish Fast Attack Craft can use ASELSAN’s CENK 300-N (ARDA) X-band AESA radar, which is being developed with fast attack craft in mind.

Instead of the initially stated CODAG, the ships weighing 700 tonnes will be powered by a CODAD propulsion system, but will keep the water jets to attain high speed and agility. The CODAD propulsion system will be cost efficient and provide stability at high speed.
