Ukrainian HIMARS destroyed Russian 48Y6-K1 Podlet surveillance radar

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed a radar station of the Russians using American-made HIMARS artillery rocket strikes in the village of Lazurne, Kherson Oblast, reported the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“In Lazurne, the Ukrainian defenders have destroyed the modern Russian radar station 48Y6-K1 Podlet.”

It is reported that the Russian radar was targeted and destroyed more than 100 km from the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

48Y6-K1 “Podlet” radar is a universal mobile phased array radar station for circular surveillance and detection of air targets at low altitudes. Podlet radar is part of S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air missiles.

The radar was developed by the Almaz-Antey air defenсe corporation for the Russian Aerospace Forces.

The complex is intended for issuing targets for S-300, S-400 and similar air defence systems. State testing of the complex began in 2010, and the first deliveries of the Podlet-K1 radar to the Russian air defense forces began in 2015.
