Azerbaijan Shot Down Russian Mi-24 Helicopter

The Azerbaijani side confirmed that a rocket from a portable anti-aircraft missile system was fired at the Russian Mi-24 attack helicopter hovering over the territory of Nakhichevan learned GDC citing Infoteka24 news.

According to Baku, there are several circumstances that contributed to the attack on the Russian combat helicopter, the reason for the appearance of which at the very Azerbaijani-Armenian border is still unknown.


According to the information received at the Ministry of Defense of the Azerbaijan Republic from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on November 9 at 18:30, a military helicopter Mi-24 of the Russian Federation was shot down on the Nakhchivan section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.

The Russian side has not yet given official comments on why the Russian attack helicopter flew only 200-300 meters from the border with Azerbaijan without a warning.

According to the official report of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as a result of a missile hitting a Russian helicopter, all crew members were killed, while sources report that a shot from MANPADS was fired from a distance of 1.5-2 kilometres.
