US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a comprehensive peace agreement with Iran has been finalized, declaring the pact complete and authorizing the immediate toll-free reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He simultaneously ordered the removal of the United States Naval blockade, stating: “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade.”
Trump signaled the resumption of energy shipments through the vital waterway, writing: “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” He did not provide additional details regarding the agreement’s implementation timeline.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced early Monday that both sides have agreed to the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. “Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” Sharif said on X. He added that the official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 19 in Switzerland.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed the agreement, which ends military operations, including in Lebanon, with a formal signing planned for June 19 in Switzerland.
While markets cheered with oil prices dropping below $81 a barrel, Israel rejected the Lebanon clause and plans no IDF withdrawal, leaving tensions unresolved. Vice President J.D. Vance called it a path to block Iran’s nuclear path and boost investment.
