Latvia is moving to expand its naval capabilities with a new multi-role offshore platform designed to address modern maritime security challenges and emerging threats.
The vessel, dubbed the LNT-27 tactical catamaran, is reportedly being developed as a high-speed, stable, and efficient maritime platform suited to a wide range of operational roles.
It features an architecture intended to improve transit speed while maintaining stability, particularly in unpredictable sea conditions.
Its configuration supports maritime security operations, coastal and offshore patrol duties, and specialized defense missions, with an emphasis on rapid deployment.
In terms of construction, the vessel is being designed to combine engineering inputs from Europe and the US with lightweight composite materials to maximize performance and operational efficiency.
It is also expected to incorporate large-scale composite fabrication and robotic precision milling to produce the complex components required.
Latitude Naval Technologies, a newly formed defense subsidiary of Latitude Construction, leads production of the vessel as its first program.
The company is based at the Port of Riga, leveraging an existing 3,000-square-meter (32,300-square-foot) workshop along with additional facilities totaling around 10,000 square meters (107,600 square feet).
It is expected to support Latvia’s industrial and economic development by creating high-skill jobs and expanding local engineering expertise.
The production timeline for the LNT-27 tactical catamaran has not been disclosed.
