Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled its new “Fire Storm 250” armed drone at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., showcasing a compact but highly capable aerial weapon system developed in collaboration with Sig Sauer.
As noted by the company, the Fire Storm 250 is “a high-performance tactical quadcopter armed with a robotic machine gun, engineered for rapid deployment, precision lethality, and sustained mission endurance.”
Designed for short-range engagements and flexible battlefield use, the system is aimed at providing small tactical units with aerial fire support and rapid response capability.
According to IAI, the drone delivers up to three hours of continuous flight while carrying 200 rounds of ammunition. The system integrates a stabilized firing platform paired with advanced control algorithms to maintain accuracy during movement or hover, allowing operators to engage targets from a safe distance.
In a statement, IAI said the platform’s development focused on operational flexibility, ensuring that troops can deploy it rapidly in the field without complex launch infrastructure. The quadcopter format provides vertical takeoff and landing capability, allowing it to operate in confined areas, including urban environments or rough terrain.
The company describes the Fire Storm 250 as a “mission-ready system” capable of combining reconnaissance and precision strike functions within a single platform. It is designed to complement existing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets by providing not just observation but immediate, controlled firepower.
The use of a robotic weapon module enables the operator to maintain full control of targeting and firing functions through encrypted communication links. IAI emphasizes that the system employs advanced stabilization and recoil absorption technologies to ensure accuracy comparable to a ground-mounted platform.
IAI representatives at the exhibition stated that the platform has undergone initial testing and is being offered for evaluation by international defense customers. The company aims to position the Fire Storm 250 as part of a broader suite of unmanned solutions covering land, air, and maritime domains.
However, as of October 16, for unknown reasons, the description of the Fire Storm 250 unmanned system was removed from IAI’s official website. The company has not issued any statement explaining the change.
