The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a massive strike against the air defence system of Russian troops the previous day. This was reported by the speaker of the Southern Defense Forces, Nataliya Humenyuk.
A launcher of the S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system worth $1 billion was destroyed in Crimea. But an older surface-to-air missile system also came under attack.
According to Natalia Humenyuk, the Defence Forces managed to destroy three S-300 launchers in the Kherson region. At the same time, the type of anti-aircraft missile system is not specified.
It is worth noting that the Russian army uses S-300 and S-400 not only as air defence equipment. The surface-to-air missile systems can be used in ground-to-ground attacks. Accuracy suffers, but since the missiles fly on a ballistic trajectory, they are virtually impossible to intercept.
Patriot air defense systems can be used to destroy S-300 and S-400 missiles. However, Ukraine has received only two surface-to-air missile defence systems.
