Israeli Kamikaze Drones Struck At Iranian Oil Tanker

The Israeli military managed to blow up an Iranian oil tanker despite Russian military escort.

Despite the fact that Russia has placed its electronic suppression and countermeasures in Tartus with short, medium and long-range air defense systems, as well as escorting Iranian oil tankers near the Syrian coast by Russian military warships, it became known that an Harop (Harpy-2) kamikaze drone struck at the oil tanker was able to easily bypass the entire Russian defense of the Syrian coast and strike at an Iranian oil tanker.

According to the Syrian Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, a fire broke out onboard an oil tanker near the Syrian port city of Baniyas. According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the tanker was allegedly attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle from an Israeli warship in Lebanese territorial waters. It is known that the fire was extinguished within a few hours, however, the fact that the Russian military failed to detect the threat and eliminate it in a timely manner raises a lot of questions about Russian air defense systems.

Taking into account the most probable flight route of the drone, – even the modernized Pantsir-SM complexes could not defeat Harop drone.
