Bangladesh Navy’s officer was beaten by mob for stealing goods from store

A mob has allegedly beaten a Bangladesh Navy officer and assaulted his wife at Kalabagan intersection of Dhanmondi for stealing an iPhone from a shop, reported the Sun newspaper.

The victim introducing himself as Navy officer Lt. Wasim Ahmed claimed that he along with wife tried to escape from the shop after taking an iPhone from the shop, eye witness told Bangladeshi newspaper that a Navy officer was caught stealing an iPhone, reported by Prothomalo.

It is alleged that Lt. Wasim Ahmed was trying to flee the spot seeing large crowd but in vain.

The video is going viral on social media shows that the victim is introducing himself to be armed forces’ officer Lt Wasim.

“The car hit my motorcycle. I wanted to talk to the car inmates. I disclosed my identity. But they started to beat me. My wife was not spared. I don’t know the reason for the attack.”, Lt. Wasim said.

“Oh my God, my tooth is broken. They have beaten me and my wife. They could kill me. Being an officer of armed forces, I narrowly escaped by applying self defense tips Thanks to Almighty!”

It is learnt that a notorious lawmaker Haji Salim’s son was at the scene and staffs were inside the car bearing registration number Metro Gha 11-5736. A sticker used by lawmaker was also stipulated on the glass of the car.

Bangladeshi police seized the car and motorcycle. 

Sub-Inspector Nazmul said the both sides were in the police station and jeep driver Mizanur Rahman was arrested.

A case was filed against Lt. Wasim Ahmad with Dhanmondi Police Station accusing Navy officer on Monday morning in this regard,” Abdullahi Kafi, additional deputy commissioner of Dhanmondi zone, said.

No details were available till filing of this news.
