Royal Navy’s saves $100 millions dollars as F-35B survived bird ingestion

The Royal Navy’s F-35B Lightnings (that’s not a misspell, UK actually adopted the “Lightning” designation instead of the “Lightning II” used by all other nations) ingested a bird during a vertical landing attempt onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier reports BBC news.

A maintenance crew checked the aircraft onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth and cleared the aircraft to be airworthy.

The F-35B fighter jet operates onboard the HMS Queen Elizabeth since the retirement of the Harrier GR9.

The first British trials aircraft made its maiden flight in April 2012 and they had their first trials flying on to and off the deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth in 2018.
